Orthodontic retainers

A retainer (or retainers in plural) is an orthodontic device used mostly after orthodontic treatment with braces or aligners like Invisalign, Ordoline, Spark, and others. They help keep teeth straight and protect against tooth wear, similar to night guards. Retainers can be fixed or removable. At Keepers, we focus on providing clear, removable retainers to maintain your straight teeth and offer long-term protection

F.A.Q

Keepers are clear, custom-made appliances (widely called “clear retainers”) made with biomedical materials and advanced 3D technology to fit over your teeth, keeping them from moving or wearing down.

Keepers were created and developed by Dr. Igor Gribalsky, a certified orthodontist, who recognized a common problem: there is no clear and simple way to maintain the position and anatomy of your teeth in the long term. After orthodontic treatment, most people are often left without an organized and easy way to replace their lost, broken, or overused retainers, causing them to stop wearing them and lose the protection they provide.

The primary goal of the Keepers Club is to simplify the retainer renewal process, giving you the confidence and security that you can get them replaced and delivered to you anywhere, anytime, saving you precious time and money.

The concept and use of custom orthodontic clear retainers have been around for a few decades. They are most commonly and widely used after orthodontic treatment to maintain the final result. Keepers have taken this existing technology and refined its usability with unique features and solutions to bring you a product of high quality and standards with unbeatable value. Maintain your teeth and smile and save yourself time and money!

As we age, teeth can shift and wear down, even if orthodontic treatment was never done. Keepers add a protective layer to keep teeth from moving and wearing down.

They are designed to simplify the process of retainer replacement, saving you time and money.

Keepers offer simplicity, flexibility and transparency, aiming to make the renewal process as simple as possible.

Keepers are most suitable for those who went through orthodontic treatment and already use or currently use some sort of retention to hold their teeth. All types of retention require timely maintenance or replacement.

Keepers are also suitable for those who never had orthodontic treatment but want extra protection for their teeth at night or to keep teeth from moving and wearing down as they age.

By joining the club you receive retainers in a reduced price and the opportunity the get and replace new retention caps in prices and quality that cannot be matched. We provide an easy and transparent solution to provide your teeth another level of protection for unbeatable cost

Yes. We offer a 30-day fit guarantee. We believe in our retainers, having made thousands already for Dr. Gribalsky’s patients. Problems with retainers are very rare and are easily solved and replaced free of charge. The guarantee starts from the point you receive your retainers.

IMPORTANT note: The guarantee does not cover misfits due to changes in tooth shape after dental treatment (such as treatment of cavities or placement of dental crowns). In such cases, we offer a free scan to create a completely new retainer over the new forms.

Contact us to either make an appointment or to send us a 3D scan file.

We need a 3D scan of your teeth on which the retainers will be made.

The 3D scan can be made by us in our offices free of charge or in any other place and sent to us digitally.

Once we have your scan, your choice of retainers and payment, you become a member for a full year and we initiate the production. When your retainers are ready, you can either pick them up or have them sent to you by post. The 30-day fit guarantee starts when you get your retainers.

If in any doubt, contact us via any contact form and we will guide you.

Yes. We offer deliveries free of charge within Latvia. Fees will apply for delivery outside of Latvia.

Fixed wire retainers are glued to the back of the teeth and serve a similar purpose: to keep your teeth from moving. At Keepers Club, we focus on removable retainers due to their various marked advantages over fixed retainers. However, Keepers can be used with and over the fixed retainer to provide extra protection for teeth at night, keep them from wearing down as they age and provide an additional backup solution in case the fixed retainers fail or break.

Yes. Keepers can be used to prevent your teeth from wearing down during increased muscle activity at night.

It is important to clarify that Keepers are NOT night guards by definition, although they share similar properties: protecting your teeth and enamel from grinding movements. Night guards come in different shapes, forms and designs and are often used in situations where there is excessive muscle activity at night. In those cases, Keepers retainers can be used as a diagnostic tool as they will wear out faster and will require more frequent replacement. When this is the case, we can offer a thicker set of retainers that can last longer but may come with a compromise of reduced comfort.

For those who have just finished or are about to finish orthodontic treatment, we suggest following the instructions provided by the treating orthodontist. Each orthodontist may have different protocols and instructions on how to use the retainers.

For those who never had orthodontic treatment or completed treatment and are no longer under active supervision, we offer and suggest our own retention protocol and instructions developed and recommended by Dr. Igor Gribalsky.

The instructions are provided when you become a Keepers Club member and receive our Keepers retainers. Our protocol is designed to adapt to various individual differences. Most commonly, retainers are used more often in the first weeks with a gradual decrease depending on individual needs.

Retainers can last anywhere from a few months to a few years, depending on different factors. Some people have more active chewing muscles and irregular anatomical forms that promote faster deterioration of the retainers. Additionally, looking after the retainers and using them correctly and regularly helps to prolong their lifespan.

Overall, it is widely recommended to replace retainers every 6-12 months to keep them fresh and optimal. Keepers Club recommends having at least one backup pair, so it can be used in case of breakage or loss, giving you enough time to get them replaced without being left without retainers. A new set of retainers will be sent to you every year while you are a member.

Yes. Our aim is to simplify the process and save you time and money. To produce our retainers, we require a 3D scan of your teeth. The 3D scan can be sent digitally without visiting our office if you have it available from your orthodontist or a dental practice near you.

In such cases, we rely on the precision of the scan, which is beyond our control compared to the free scan made in our office. If the scan is not new or there was some dental treatment done after the scan was made, there is a fair chance that the retainer will not fit. In such cases, the guarantee does not apply.

Keepers retainers are made using advanced 3D technology with certified biomedical materials that are hypoallergenic, biocompatible and BPA-free. The process starts with taking a precise 3D scan of your teeth, which is sent to our expert lab partners to manufacture the retainers.

Yes. We use only certified biomedical materials that are hypoallergenic, biocompatible and BPA-free. Every step of the process is carefully controlled and goes through several quality control checks.

No. Keepers are designed to keep your teeth in the same position as they were when your teeth were scanned. However, if the retainer has not been used for long periods, teeth could shift and not correspond to the form of the retainers. In such cases, using the retainer again can apply excessive pressure on the teeth, which can either initiate some movement or result in cracking or breakage of the retainers.

In such cases, we recommend either taking a new scan to order a new set of retainers or consulting your orthodontist if you want to move your teeth.

At Keepers, we do not move teeth actively. This is the job of your orthodontist.

One month before the membership period ends, we will send you a message to ask if you want to extend the membership or not. If you choose to extend it, we will send you a fresh new pair of retainers. If you do not wish to extend or do not reply by the end of the membership period, you can still re-join at any point. Renewal fees will always be lower than joining fees.

At Keepers, we do not diagnose or treat teeth. This is the job of your dentist, and it is your own responsibility to maintain your oral health and hygiene. We are here to provide the tools and possibility to get retainers in a faster and easier way to save you time and money. We rely on individual responsibility for teeth and mouth health. We highly recommend having your teeth and gums checked regularly and treated if needed. Keepers are made over a precise 3D scan and precise dental anatomy. If teeth are treated and the anatomy is changed, the retainers will not fit and a new scan will be required.

No. We only work with 3D scans as this is the most advanced, precise and reliable option.
